Don, our Cambridge Proficiency English (CPE) teacher has told me numerous times what a fantastic class his last CPE class was. The student’s writings kept him entertained whilst marking them in the staff room and the class had lots of fun together while still studying hard. Today, Juan from Argentina received his fantastic results for his CPE exam in November. Congratulations Juan, we would love to know what you are going to do now and some things about your time at Lexis.
Why did you decide to study in Perth?
I had lived in Australia before and always wanted to see Perth. Australia is just as beautiful as everyone says it is and even more. The multicultural composition of its society is just the beginning. Any common day is proof enough that I made the right decision.
Before coming to Perth you were enrolled in a General English course but once you did your placement test we suggested you joined the CPE class, are you happy you joined the Cambridge class?
Absolutely! I always liked the English language and Cambridge is the very nucleus. It was great from you guys to open that opportunity for me.
What was the most challenging thing about studying in the proficiency course?
Probably coming back to study in a classroom environment, in the last three years, my learning was street based so coming back to a place in which they are concerned about every detail of my expression was as uncomfortable as necessary.
Would you recommend taking a Cambridge course to other people?
Absolutely! Not only for its level of English development but also for the amazing environment at Lexis, a great combination of fun and studies.
What advice would you give to people who are just starting their Cambridge course?
To not let themselves be guided by the quiet and stereotypical appearance of Don, our teacher. He is a passionate lover of the language and all its possibilities at the time of twisting it to make it fun.
Now that you have passed the CPE with a B (a FANTASTIC result) what do you plan on doing in the future?
I am going to study a Diploma in Screen and Media in Perth. In the future maybe I’ll use it to keep on traveling and seeing new places. English is not part of a backpack, with the things one learns but a torch that opens the path for us.
What are your best memories from your time at Lexis?
Probably any day in our class, the fact that everyone comes from all around the world. To just be there makes the perfect environment to make friends and enjoy every minute. Also, I think particularly our class was a great one. Many times we had to take a break to stop laughing. I don’t think I could ask for more than that.
Any more comments:
Mmm. To those who are asking themselves if they should or not… the answer is yes. To those who have already decided they want to do it, be ready to get more than you expect. Australia is great, Perth is great and Lexis is one of the best ways of living the experience.
Juan, we thoroughly enjoyed having you as a student here at Lexis. We wish you all the best in the future and thank you so much for your time completing this survey.
